the central nervous system

Cards (3)

  • Cns: receives information from the senses, controls behaviours and regulates the body’s physiological processes.
  • Spinal cord: bundle of nerve fibres enclosed with a spinal column connects nearly all parts of the body with the brain. If damages stops messages from the brain. Contains circuits of nerve cells allowing us to perform reflex actions without involvement from the brain.
  • Brain: oversees the working of the body, responsible for co-ordinating sensations, intellectual and nerve related activity. Bridge between the two is called the corpus collosum. Sensory and motor neurones travel through the stem allowing message to pass between the brain and spinal chord
    Billions of neural connections
