Controlling body temperature

Subdecks (2)

Cards (19)

    • Body temperature needs to be kept at around 37 degrees
    • In order to do this body temperature must be carefully monitored and controlled
    • To keep the body core constant, a part of the brain called the thermoregulatory system comes in
    • It acts as a thermostat
    • It receives information about body temperature from receptors
  • These receptors include:
    • Receptors in the thermoregulatory centre that are sensitive to the temperature of the blood flowing through the brain
    • Receptors in the skin that send information about skin temperature via nervous impulses
  • How is body temperature controlled?
Due to a negative feedback system
