• Work = product of force & distance the force is applied

  • If there is no movement - there is no work
• Mechanical Energy = primary agent of injury

  • Classified as Kinetic (linear or angular) or Potential (gravitational or elastic)
• Conservation of energy = the net work done on a system converted into kinetic & potential energy such that total energy of the system remains constant throughout the motion (only when no external forces are acting on the system)
• Transfer of Energy = transfer of energy is the mechanism by which energy is passed from one body to another
• Work-Energy Theorem = the net work done by all the forces acting on a body equals the change in its kinetic energy
