    Untreated or recent streptococcal infection - immune system responds by creating antigen-antibody complexes (14 days after infection) - antibodies get lodged in the glomeruli - inflammation and scarring - decreased GFR - FV overload and edema

    • Recent strep infection
    • Elevated labs: Azotemia (increased BUN and crea)
    • mild Proteinuria

    Treat underlying cause:
    • Antibiotics - infection
    • Antihypertensives - control BP
    • Diuretics - fluid retention and edema
    • Corticosteroids - inflammation
    Diet: Low sodium, low protein, high carbs
