What is a photon?
Smallest unit of EM radiation with no mass
What is the photoelectric effect?
The emission of electrons from the surface atoms of a material that have gained the accurate level of energy from the absorption of a photon, and it becomes a photoelectron

What is the threshold frequency?
The minimum frequency of light required to eject electrons from a metal surface in the photoelectric effect.
What is the work function?
The minimum energy required to release an electron from the surface of a material.
What is the effect of the frequency and intensity of the incident wave on the photons?
Frequency effects kinetic energy, intensity effects the amount of photons
What is the gradient, x and y intercept on a photoelectric effect graph?

What is stopping potential?
The minimum potential difference required to just stop the flow of electrons in a circuit, will be equal to the maximum kinetic energy
What is the Compton Effect?
Interaction of a high energy photon (usually x-ray) with an orbital electron which causes an increase in the wavelength of the photon and the ejection of the electron
What is the Compton shift?
The increase in wavelength of the scattered photon
What is the Compton wavelength?
The new wavelength of the scattered photon
