  located superficially + laterally, overlying the rotator cuff muscles that anchor + supports the shoulder joint itself

  can be further divided into the anterior + posterior deltoid region

  situated along the medial border of the deltoid muscle + adjacent to the pectoralis major = deltopectoral groove
