1.1.2 CPU Performance

Cards (3)

  • Clock Speed
The CPU works at high speeds governed by the clock chip. The faster the clock the more instructions that can be completed per second. It uses a vibrating crystal that maintains a constant speed and normally operates at speed of up to 4 GHz or 4 billion instructions per second
  • Cache Memory
Can be accessed very quickly by the CPU, so having more cache will provide the CPU with fast access to more data
  • Number of cores
(Multiple processing units) If a CPU has multiple cores it may be able to process more instructions simultaneously
