Excitatory or inhibitory

• Different neurotransmitters have different effects, they are either excitatory (increasing the

  post-synaptic neuron’s positive charge and the likelihood of the message being passed on)

• Summation is the effect of numerous electrical impulses on a junction between the nerve cell and muscle cell. By themselves stimuli cannot evoke a response, but collectively together they can.
• Excitatory:

  • Adrenaline - fight or flight neurotransmitter
  • Noradrenaline: concentration neurotransmitter
• Inhibitory:

  • dopamine - pleasure neurotransmitter
  • Serotonin- mood neurotransmitter
