  • Genital Stage (Puberty to adolescence)

    The onset of puberty causes the libido to become active once again. During the final stage of psychosexual development, the individual develops a strong sexual interest in the opposite sex. This stage begins during puberty but lasts throughout the rest of the persons life.
  • In earlier stages the focus was solely on individual needs, interest in the welfare of others grows in this stage. The goal of this stage is to establish a balance between the various forms of life areas.
    If the other stages were completed successfully, the individual should be warm, well-balanced and caring.
  • Unresolved conflict at this stage can be expressed here through difficulty forming heterosexual relationships.
