What is a reflex?
A rapid, automatic response to certain stimuli that isn't conscious
What is a reflex arc?
The passage of information in a reflex from a receptor to an effector
Where do the neurones in a reflex arc go?
They go through the spinal cord or an unconscious part of the brain
Where are the impulses from a receptor sent after the stimulus is detected?
Along a sensory neurone to a relay neurone in the CNS
Where is the synapse that the impulses reach?
Between the sensory and relay neurone
What happens when the impulses reach the synapse?
Chemicals are released which send impulses to a motor neurone
What happens once the impulses are sent to a motor neurone?
They travel along the motor neurone to the effector
What happens when the impulses get to the effector? 
The muscle retracts or the gland secretes
