    • Population - the total set of observations that can be made.
    • Sample - a set of observations drawn from a population.
    • Parameter - a measurable characteristic of a population, denoted by greek letters.
    • Statistic - a measurable characteristic of a sample, denoted by lowercase letters.
    • Primary - data that is collected by a researcher from first-hand sources.
    • Secondary - data gathered from second hand sources (other people).
    • Qualitative - categorical, written.
    • Quantitative - numerical data.
    • Discrete - data that can be counted as it only takes certain values.
    • Continuous - data that takes any values.
