Endogenous and Exogenous zeitgebers

Cards (4)

  • What are Endogenous Zeitgebers?

Internal biological cues that regulate our circadian rhythms. Examples: brain's internal clock, hormone release, natural sleep-wake cycle.
  • What are Exogenous Zeitgebers?

External cues that regulate our circadian rhythms. Examples: light and darkness, social interactions, meal times, eating patterns.
  • Endogenous vs Exogenous
Endogenous: comes from within the body. Exogenous: comes from outside the body.
  • Internal Clock vs External Cues
Internal Clock (Endogenous): regulates our circadian rhythms. External Cues (Exogenous): influences our sleep-wake cycles.
