  • Aim: Ainsworth’s strange situation used structured observational research to assess & measure the quality of attachment.
  • Method: 100 middle class American infants and their mothers took part in the 8 stage strange situation method.
  • Results: The findings showed that 70% of the children were securely attached, 15% insecure avoidant and 15% insecure resistant.
  • Conclusion: This tells us that most American children appeared to be securely attached.
