A network of glands in the body that manufacture and secrete chemical messengers called ‘hormones’
Glands release hormones into the blood stream, so they can target specific areas of the body.
The endocrine system is regulated like a thermostat – the glands secrete the hormones to maintain a constant stable level. For example, if a level drops, the hormones are released to return it to normal.
Homeostasis (the process by which living organisms maintain a steady internal environment)
