• America didn’t join the League 


  League doesn’t have access to the US economy or resources
• Neither France nor Britain had the resources needed to fill the gap of the USA
• The League has no access to US resources, economy or military
• America is not obliged to enforce the League’s sanctions
• France and Britain had very different views on how the League should be run and even they had doubts
• France and Britain weren’t prepared to go to war again
• Other countries may soon realise the weaknesses of the League
