effects of osmosis on plant tissue

• what is osmosis

  diffusion of water from dilute to concentrated solution through partially permeable membrane
• process

  1. peel potato
  2. use cork borer to three cylinders of potato
  3. scalp to trim these to same length (3cm)
  4. measure length and mass
  5. place each into test tube
  6. add 10cm^3 of 0.5 , 0,25 molar sugar solution and distilled water to each one
  7. leave potatoes over night
  8. take out potato and remove surface water
  9. measure length and mass
  10. calculate percentage change in length and mass
