    Focussed on individualism, hoping to build a reputation for economic competence.
    Aimed to provide support for the most vulnerable.
    Rejected class based politics.
    State should not interfere in the economy (scrapping Clause IV) and encouraged private sector provision of public services.
    Supported lower taxes, kept the 40% tax rate.
    Did however raise NI to help improve the NHS.
    Introduced minimum wage and the HRA.

    Focussed on raising aspirations and providing a safety net for those in need.

    Means tested welfare.
    Tuition fees for Uni introduced, however grants provided for those who can't afford it.
    HRA and civil partnerships introduced.
    Devolved individual nations.
  • Law and Order
    'tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime'
    Introduced Anti Social Behaviour Orders as a punishment.
    Control orders and anti terror measures introduced, contradicting the HRA.
  • Foreign Policy
    Aimed to 'spread democracy' and assert 'GB interests'.
    Pro European.
