County Court

• Take up civil claims up to £100000 in value.
• Typical cases they hear are:

  Negligence (Injury or loss)

  Tort based claims (Nuisance/trespassing)

  Debt claims and consumer disputes

  Housing claims (landlord and tenant matters)

  Probate claims
• A judge will hear the case, the evidence and then make an unbiased verdict on who is liable/non liable.
• Judges:

  District Judge

  Circuit Judge

  Recorder
• Almost 500 county Courts.
• County courts have jurisdiction over all civil cases except those that fall under High court's exclusive jurisdiction.
