    • ID: Constitutional Convention
      When: May, September 1789
      Who: 55 delegates, including: James Madison, George W, and Alexander Hamilton (Originally 70) from 12 states except for Rhode Island.
      What: Meeting held in Pennsylvania(Phili), to revise and fix AOC
      Significance: Decided to set aside the AOC due to its many weaknesses and create a new constitution.

      Who: Roger Sherman
      What: Established the United States as a bicameral, or two house law-making body. The American Government qould have two houses in congress
      Significance: Satisfied the concerns of large and small states in the debate over representation in the legislature

      When: September 24, 1789
      Who: President George Washington
      What: Established the Federal court system separate from individual state courts. It was one of the first acts of congress.
      Significance: Bought the US Supreme Court and the judicial Branch of government into existence.

      What: The first 10 amendments of the constitution. It protects our freedom of speech, religion, assembly, and due process of law.
      Significance: Won over states skeptical of a federal government and proved the constitution to be a living document.

      When: July, 1790
      Who: Alexander Hamilton
      What: Hamilton won in the decision for the federal government to take over and pay off the state debts. Along with that, the capital was moved to Washington, D.C.
      Significance: Southerners changed their vote to support assumption, the result was the capital was changed to Washington D.C.

      When: 1791-1799
      Who: George Washington
      What: An uprising of farmers and distillers in western Pennsylvania that protested a whiskey tax placed by the federal government.
      Significance: First test that the federal government has authority in the country.
    • ID: Jay's treaty
      When: November 19, 1794
      Who: Supreme court chief justice John Jay
      What: The British left outposts on the US soil, paid damages for American vessels and in return, the USA would follow Britains trade policies regarding France and repaid pre-revolutionary war debt. Britain kept control of Fur Trade in northern states.
      Significance: Made an effort to avoid war with Britain.
