  participants may work out the situation or aim of research , which will affect their behaviour
• participants reactivity is a significant extraneous variable which will have an affect on the dependent variable - affecting the validity of the research
• What are investigator effects 


  researching has unknowingly communicated with the participants that they are doing something right or wrong and has been reinforced
• What is randomisation 


  A way of controlling the extraneous variables or cofounding variables on the outcome
• What is standardisation 


  All participants should be subject to the same environment, information and experience
• How do we reinforce standardisation
