• Carboniferous limestone - Rock formed millions of years ago by shells on ocean floor compacted
• Chalk - sedimentary rock which is porous younger form of limestone with a medium resistance
• Granite - Igneous rock which contains crystals and is formed by underground cooling magma
• Basalt - Igneous rock formed from lava which is rich in metal, and is black and heavy
• Slate - metamorphic rock formed from heated mud or shale
• Schist - Rock formed by metamorphosis of slate which is partially melted then solidified
• Plucking - when glaciers move, they scrape and pull away pieces of rock
• uplift - land pushed up due to convection currents in the mantle, land usually formed by molten magma from past volcanoes
