    • target population: refers to a large group of people a researcher is interested in studying.
    • Sample: sub group of the target population.
    • A sample is used instead of a whole target population because it is more practical and for economic reasons
    • Random sampling is when all participants have an equal chance of being picked. May use a generator or a lottery method.
    • Systematic sampling is when every nth person is selected from the list.
    • opportunity sampling is when the researcher chooses anyone available at that time.
    • volunteer sample is when the participants are willing to take part in the study aka. self participation.
