Respiration

• Respiration is the release of energy from the break down of glucose
• Aerobic (with oxygen)

  GLUCOSE + OXYGEN - CARBON DIOXIDE + WATER
• Anaerobic respiration (without oxygen)

  Animals: glucose - lactic acid

  Plants: glucose - ethanol + carbon dioxide
• Aerobic respiration is an exothermic reaction as is releases energy
• Cellular respiration : All organisms respire to release energy for their functions which is stored in ATP
