  ● Larger and more medial than the fibula
• PARTS OF THE TIBIA

  • Lateral and medial condyle
  • Tibial tuberosity
  • Anterior border
  • Medial malleolus
• Lateral & medial condyle

  • Located at the proximal end of the tibial bone
  • Both articulate with the distal end of the femur to form the knee joint
• Tibial tuberosity

  • Roughened area on the anterior surface of the bone where the patellar ligament is attached
• Anterior border

  • Unprotected part of the bone
  • Easily felt at it is not covered by muscles
• Medial malleolus

  • Process at the distal end that forms the inner bulge of the ankle
