Concave & Convex mirrors and lenses

    Cards (8)

    • A concave mirror is know as converging. It converges the incident rays after reflection
    • If an object is placed within focal length of a concave mirror it is magnified virtual image (meaning it makes the image bigger)
    • A convex mirror is know as diverging. It diverges meaning that it spreads out the incident rays after reflection
    • convex images make the objects shown virtually and smaller in size.
(virtual because they are not real, they get bigger and smaller etc.)
    • How they are drawn
    • Examples of concave mirror - shaving & makeup mirror, dentist mirror
    • Examples of convex mirrors - parking lot mirrors, street mirrors, shops
    • When it comes to lenses it is the opposite meaning that a concave lens will diverge and a convex lens with converge
