  • Their attitudes towards Christmas:
    • They love Christmas- 'God bless you merry gentleman! May nothing you dismay!'
    • They think that it is a time for helping others e.g. charities- 'I help to support the establishments I have mentioned'
  • How Scrooge treats them:
    • He doesn't let them have a day off, even on Christmas day- 'A poor excuse for picking a man's pocket every twenty- fifth of December! But I suppose you must have the whole day. Be here all the earlier next morning!'
    • He is quite petty towards them- 'And its not fair'
  • Arguments that Scrooge puts forward to them and his attitude:
    • He doesn't care about the charities- 'If they would rather die, they had better do it and decrease the surplus population'
    • Doesn't like the poor as he wants to get rid of them.
    • He thinks the poor are bad people- 'Are there no prisons?'
    • He is very rude towards them- 'I wish to be left alone.'
    • He doesn't want to give his money away.
