    Press widely considered to support the Conservatives, arguing Thatcher was a refreshing and positive change.
    Labour had largely negative coverage - 'Crisis, what crisis?' Sun headline.
    Opinion polling showed the Cons a slight lead and many argue this encouraged a higher turnout.
