    • Fuel cells is an electrical cell supplied with fuel and oxygen
    • The fuel cell is oxidised electrochemically to produce a potential difference
    • The fuel cell hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce water and release energy
  • Hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells:
    1. Electrolyte is acid, electrodes are porous carbon with catalyst
    2. Anode is negative electrode, cathode is positive electrode
    3. Hydrogen goes to anode, oxygen goes to cathode
    4. At anode, hydrogen oxidises ( loses electrons) to produce H+ ions
    5. H+ ions move to cathode
    6. At cathode, oxygen reduces ( gains electrons) from cathode and reacts with H+ ions to make water
    7. Electrons flow through external circuit from anode to cathode - current
    8. Hydrogen + oxygen makes water
