• convection:

  • happens in liquids and gases
  • energetic particles move away from hotter to colder regions
  • energy transferred to thermal store of liquid snd gas by heating
  • energy shared across kinetic energy stores of gas and liquid particles
  • particles able to move, particles move faster and particles move further away
  • density of region being heated increases
  • liquids and gases can flow, warmer and less dense region will rise above denser, cooler region
• convection current in radiation:

  • energy transferred from radiator to nearby air partciled by convection
  • air by radiator becomes warmer and less denss as particles move quicker
  • warm air rises and replaces by cooler air
  • cooler air heated by radiator
  • previously heated air transfers energy to surroundings, air cools, becomes denser and sinks
  • flow of air circulates in room
