• Increasing efficiency of energy transfer can be done by:

  • lubrication
  • insulation
  • streamlining - shaping an object so air can easily flow over
• • no device is 100% efficient because some energy is always dissipated to thermal energy stores
  • electrical heaters are 100% efficient because the energy transferred from electrostatic energy store thermal energy stores are useful
• • It is not possible to have an efficiency of greater than 1 or efficiency percentage of 100%
  • this would mean that more energy is being transferred than is being supplied, which would mean that energy is being created
  • this would break the law of conservation of energy
