  • there is an increase in wanting to use renewable energy resources:
    • burning fossils damages environment - renewable resources does less damage
    • fossil fuels are finite
    • pressure from other countries and public created tragets for renewable resource usage - puts pressure on energy providers to build new renewable power plants - do not lose business and money
    • Car companies move towards electric cars and hybrids - increase in popularity
    • Scientists cannot make people, companies and governments change behaviour even though scientific evidence is there
    • Building new power plants are expensive so energy providers are reluctant to do so
    • Switiching to renewable power will be paid for by taxes and customers - some can't afford to pay - may not be ethical to be made
    • New power plants have no space to be built
    • May not be ethical to subject people to disadvantages of power plants
    • Some renewable energy resources are not as reliable as fossil fuels
    • Other resources cannot incresse power output on demand
    • Reliability will need to be improved or combination of different power plants - expensive
    • Research on improving reliability amd cost of renewables takes time and money
    • Can take years to make improvements - until then, non-renewable power will be used
    • Making personal changes is expensive
    • Hybrid cars are more expensive than petrol cars
    • Solar panels are pricey
    • Not option for many people
