Response to exercise

Cards (5)

    • The body reacts to the increased demand of energy
    • This energy comes from increased respiration
    • More oxygen is needed to be given to the working muscles
    • breathing rate and breath volume increase to get more oxygen to the blood
    • Heart rate increases to get oxygenated blood around the body faster
    • Vigorous exercise causee the body to not supply enough oxygen to the muscles
    • This causes anaerobic respiration to take place
    • long periods of exercise can cause muscle fatigue and stop them from contracting effectively
    • After exercise, due to anaerobic respiration, the body will fall into an oxygen debt
    • The incomplete oxidation of glucose causes build up of latic acid
    • An oxygen debt is the amount of extra oxygen needed to react with lactic acid and remove it from cells
    • Breathing rate and pulse are high to get more oxygen to blood, which then goes to the muscles
    • Blood that flows to muscles transports the lactic acid to the liver
    • The liver converts the lactic acid to glucose
