Cards (5)

    • Density = mass (kg) / volume (m^3)
    • Density is mass per unit volume
    • Dense material have tightly packed particles
    • Less dense material have spread particles
  • Solids:
    • Strong forces of attraction hold particles together in fixed, regular arrangement
    • Particles don't have much energy
    • Density is highest as particles are close
  • Liquids:
    • Weaker forces of attraction between particles
    • Particles are close together, move past esch other, form irregular arrangements
    • More energy in particles than solid - move in random directions at low speeds
    • Less dense than solids
  • Gases:
    • No forces of attraction between particles
    • Particles have more energy than liquids and solids - free to move and travel in random directions at high speeds
    • Less dense than liquids - low densities
