matched pairs

• pps are pre tested for a particular characteristic and then matched with another person in a separate group. the two groups each experience a different conditions
• reduces the individual differences as pps are matched on a characteristic that could have influenced the DV, but they are not eradicated like in repeated measures.
• no order effects will affect the pps as they each only experience a single condition.
• takes a long time to pre test and match pps on particular characteristics.
