    • demand characteristics are when participants change their behaviour if they have figured out the aim of the study
    • The two types of demand characteristics are the Hawthorne effect and the screw - you effect

    • Authoritarian personality is measure by the f - scale which was created by Adorno. They have these characteristics :

    • what does dissent mean ?

      expressing disagreement with group norms - different opinions
    • External locus of control is when people feel powerless, believing that external forces beyond their control determine what happens to them.
    • Internal locus of control is when people believe they can influence events that affect them.
    • Individualism focuses on individual achievement, self expression, personal choice
    • Collectivism focuses on group success, respect for authority and leaders, associated with stable, hierarchical roles
    • Kilham and Mann suggest that gender has an impact on obedience. females were less likely to obey 16 %, whereas in males 40 % obeyed
    • what does feasibilty mean?
      that the assumptions are accurate
    • What does inter - rater reliability mean ?
      how consistent findings are by individuals - such as multiple counsellors observing behaviour and agreeing on their findings at the end of the day ( sherif )
