• “No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit”
• baptism symbolises the forgiveness of sins and christian’s believe baptising cleanses people from original sin
• Infant baptism


  orthodox completely submerge the baby in water, other denominations draw a cross in oil on the baby’s head and pour holy water on the forehead
• infant baptism 


  promises are made by Godparents on the baby’s behalf to reject evil and the parents receive a candle to keep for the child to symbolise the light of Christ
• believer’s baptism


  when the individual can accept Christianity for themselves and are fully submerged in holy water
