• • Cells can receive both EPSPs and IPSPs at the same time, therefore the overall calculation (called ‘summation’) determines whether the postsynaptic cell fires or not​
• • E.g.: 5 EPSPs - 2 IPSPs = 3 EPSPs = Excitatory charge
