L5.2.1: Overview of Family Planning

• Family Planning (FP)

  ○ Voluntary effort for the individual or couples of reproductive age with the main purpose of limiting fertility by either natural or artificial means.
• World Health Organization on Family Planning

  ○ Allows individuals and couples to anticipate & attain the desired:

  ■ Number of children

  ■ Spacing and timing of their births.
• Republic Act No. 10354 on Family Planning

  • Program which enables couples and individuals to:

  ○ Decide freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children, and

  ○ Have the information and means to do so, and

  ○ Have access to a full range of safe, affordable, effective, non-abortifacient modem natural and artificial methods of planning pregnancy.

  ● Refers to a program which enables couples and individuals to:
