L5.2.4.2.1.3.5: Female Condom

Cards (4)

  • A thin sheath made out of soft transparent polyurethane plastic
    ● 7-8 cm in diameter and 17 cm long
  • How to Use
    Step 1:
Carefully open and remove the condom from the package to prevent tearing.
    Step 2:
The thick, inner ring with the closed end is used for placing in the vagina and holds the condom in place. The thin, outer ring remains outside of the body, covering the vaginal opening.
    Step 3:
Find a comfortable position. While holding the outside of the condom at the closed end, squeeze the sides of the inner ring together with your thumb and forefinger and insert into vagina. It is similar to inserting a tampon.
  • How to Use
    Step 4:
Using your finger, push the inner ring as far up as it will go until it rests against the cervix. The condom will expand naturally and you may not feel it.
    Step 5:
Be sure the condom is not twisted. The thin, outer ring should remain outside vagina.
    Step 6:
Guide partner’s penis into opening of condom. Stop intercourse if you feel penis slip between the condom and the walls of vagina or if the outer ring is pushed into vagina.
    Step 7:
To remove, gently twist the outer ring and pull the condom out of vagina.
