What is the purpose of the epidermal tissue?
To
protect
surfaces
and
sometimes
produce a
waxy
substance
to keep the leaves
waterproof.
What is the purpose of palisade mesophyll?
Contains lots of
choloroplasts
.
What is the purpose of a spongy mesophyll?
Contains some
chloroplasts
but have a
large
surface
area
to make the
diffusion
of
gases
easier.
Xylem and phloem tissues transport
ions
throught the plant.
What does xylem tissues transport?
Water
and
mineral ions
from the
roots
to the
leaves.
What do phloem tissues transport?
Dissolved
foods
from the
leaves
to around the
plant.
Stomata opens to release
water
vapour
which is known as
transpiration
Guard cells control how wide the
stomata
opens to let in
carbon
dioxide
and let out
water
vapour.
