the afterlife

• christian’s believe in eternal life - there will be another life when this life ends
• christian’s believe it is our soul that will have eternal life - our physical body will die but our soul will resurrect to heaven or hell
• heaven 


  • a state of eternal happiness in the presence of god
  • a reward for having both faith in god and doing good actions such as helping the poor (parable of the sheep and the goats)
• hell 


  • eternal suffering ruled by satan
• judgement 


  christian’s believe they will be judged by god who will decide whether we spend eternity in heaven or hell
• day of judgement 


  jesus will return to judge the living and the dead
• 2 requirements for entering heaven


  1. faith and belief that jesus is the son of god
  2. following the teachings and example of jesus
• the belief in the afterlife 


  encourages christian’s to do good actions and follow the teachings of jesus in order to go to heaven when they die (parable of the sheep and the goat)
