    people might join pressure groups in scotland because they think the media will pay more attention to larger groups. this means that their actions may have more impact and they will gain more attention from the public which may help to promote their cause. for example extinction rebellion have targeted busy streets and bridges in edinburgh and have attracted lots of media and public attention, this allows more people to find out about their cause and help support them.

    people may join pressure groups if they are concerned about particular issues such a animal rights and the environment, they feel that by joining a pressure group they can have more of an impact by campaigning with other people. for example green peace has 130,000 UK supporters, many of whom have joined because they care about climate change.
  • they have experience campaigning protesting.

    people may join pressure groups because they have experience in protesting, this means they have built the skills in order to get the most out of a protest, for example in 2018 scottish CND educations peace campaigning academy had about 70 participants aged between 18-40 who took part in a 3 day long training programme to build skills needed to campaign.
