    • Opechancanough was the leader of the Powhatans
    • Tisquantum was a normal Algonquian
    • Metacomet was the leader of the Wampanoags
    • In 1622 opechancanough decided to attack Jamestown as he was afraid of the colony expanding. He ended up killing 347 colonists.
    • Tisquantum hoped that by cooperating with the English he might save his people from any harm. He taught the first English colonists to survive by teaching them to plant maize.
    • In 1621 a meal was shared between the Puritans and the Wampanoags- an even which then commemorated as Thanksgiving
    • Metacomet at first embraced the British ways, he wore traditional European clothing and even named himself Philip.
    • After the colony at Plymouth began expanding, threatening Wampanoag resources, Metacomet resisted.
    • Leaders such as Opechancanough and Metacomet were killed
    • Some Wampanoags converted to Christianity and were some of the first graduates of the colonists' newly built university, Harvard College in Massachusetts
    • The colonists sold Metacomet's wife and nine- year old son into slavery in the Caribbean
