The five roots of Usul ad-Din in Shi’a Islam

• What are the five roots of Usul ad-Din?

  1. Tawhid
  2. Adalat
  3. Nubuwwah
  4. Imamate
  5. Al Ma’ad
• What is Tawhid?

  The oneness of God. He is almighty and only him is worthy of worship
• What is Adalat?

  Divine justice. Shi’a Muslims believe that Allah is always right & just. Sometimes Allah may act in ways that are beyond our understanding .
• What is Nubuwwah?

  The prophets. They provide guidance from God and should be respected, especially Muhammad.
• What is Imamate?

  Authority of the Imams. The twelve Imams were chosen by god to lead Islam after Muhammad. They lead Muslims onto the right path
• What is Al Ma’ad?


  The day of resurrection. Muslims will be resurrected and judged by God
