The brain is divided into two symmetrical halves called the
left
and
right
hemispheres
Some functions are dominated by one
hemisphere
, which is called lateralisation
Activity on the left side of the body are controlled by the
right
hemisphere
and vice Versa
The outer layer of both hemispheres is called the cerebral cortex, a 3mmm layer covering the outer parts of the brain
The
human
cortex is much more developed than other animals
The
cortex
appears grey due to the location of cell bodies hence the term
grey matter
