The visual area

• Located in the occipital lobe
• Each eye sends information from the right visual field to the left visual cortex and from the left visual field to the right visual cortex
• The process begins in the retina
• Nerve impulses from the retina travel to the areas of the brown via optic nerves
• Most terminate in the thalamus, which acts as a relay station passing information to the visual cortex
• The visual cortex spans in both hemispheres
• The right hemisphere receiving its input from the left-hand side of the visual fields and vice Versa
