• how does research support/ undermine CI? 


  supports:

  Geiselman (1985) had participants watch a violent film and 48 hours later had to recall events in a cognitive, standard or hypnosis interview. the most accurate was the CI (41.2) which demonstrates the CI as superior.

  Kohnken (1999) did a meta-analysis of 53 studies comparing cognitive interviews with standard police interviews. he found a 34% increase in the amount of info recalled in cognitive interviews to support the effectiveness
• how does mixing CI techniques support/ undermine CI?

  undermines:

  Milne and Bull (2002) found when used alone they were effective but only reporting everything and reinstating context were effective when used together- reducing overall credibility
• how does the practicality support/ undermine CI? 


  undermines:

  take more time and training in the police force and most don’t have the resources except a few hours to spare so it could cause the CI techniques to be used poorly or not at all
• how does Wright and Holliday (2007) research support/ undermine CI? 


  undermines:

  CI are more useful for older witnesses who already have memory issues. this limits its usefulness overall as it isn’t effective on all
