    GNI per capita - gross domestic income of a country divided by its population

    HDI - human development index based on the life expectancy, GNI per capita and education/adult literacy rates

    Money is having to be spent on maintaining/repairing infrastructure rather than education, healthcare etc
  • How does having few natural resources affect development?

    Having to spend money on imports, does not have any resources to export as a source of income for the country
  • How does a poor climate affect development?

    unable to grow crops for subsistence/commercial farming, may cause malnutrition and no external source of income
  • How does a poor location affect development?

    Landlocked countries have no proper water source, relies on other countries and travel/trade is more difficult
  • How does education link to development?

    better education = better jobs = better pay = taxed more by government = more money for developing the country
  • How does healthcare link to development?

    better health = more workers = more people to tax = more for gov and country
  • How does aid link to development?

    Helps to develop quicker due to the help in education, food security, healthcare
