  Before conditioning

  • UCS (milk bottle) produces UCR (happy baby)
  • NS (mother) produces no response (from baby)

  
  

  During conditioning

  • UCS (milk bottle) --> associated with NS (mother giving baby the bottle) --> UCR (happy baby)

  
  

  After conditioning

  • CS (mother) produces CR (happy baby)
• Classical conditioning - before conditioning


  Milk bottle (UCS) produces UCR (baby is happy)

  Mother alone(NS) doesn't produce response in baby
• Classical conditioning - during conditioning


  mother (NS) gives milk bottle (UCS) to baby who becomes happy (UCR)

  baby then associates mother to milk bottle
• Classical conditioning - after conditioning


  Mother (CS) produces a CR in baby (who is now happy) because it associated milk bottle with mother.
