Data Transmission*

Cards (4)

  • When data is transferred over a network, a process called routing determines the path each data packet takes as efficiently as possible. Routes are determined using a routing table.
  • Routing tables are constructed in memory of routers, switches, bridges, firewalls and gateways.
  • To calculate the total cost of route:
    (∑ Cost) * ( (∑ Intermediate Cost) - 1 Intermediate Cost )
  • Bandwidth is the measure of how much data can be fitted onto a cable at any point in time.
